Injection Technology of Thin Wall

When the wall thickness is less than 1mm in injection molds, it is called thin wall, and a more comprehensive definition of thin wall is length-thickness ratio L/T (L: the process from the main flow of the mold to the farthest point of the finished product; T: the thickness of the plastic part).

In the injection molding process, since the cost of plastic usually accounts for the majority of the finished product, the thin wall cuts the cost and improves the dimensional stability of the product by reducing the gram weight of the product.

In thin-wall injection molding, due to the thinning of the wall thickness, the cooling rate of the polymer melt in the cavity is accelerated, and it will solidify in a very short time. Therefore, the material properties and process constraints should be correctly understood when selecting materials. As well as the requirements for the finished product are necessary. Engineering thermoplastics for thin-wall technology must guarantee freedom of the process and properties that enable the product to be used in the wrong environment.

Kaihua Mould has widely used thin-wall injection molding in the fields of automobiles and home appliances, and has reached deep cooperation with Geely, Nissan and Toyota.
